As a child, going to the Country fair was a treat.... meeting up with my friends, checking out the silly looking chickens (which we now have a flock of :) ), scouting for free goods from the vendor booths and ordering sweet, ice cold, tad-bit-tangy, lemonade. Ohhh it was good! Below is the closest thing I have found to recreate the drink...
County Fair Lemonade
1 large lemon
Enough ice (crushed or shaved is best) to fill the glass
1/3 cup sugar
cold water
**Cut lemon in half, slice a small piece from one of the pieces for a garnish. Juice lemon. Using a jar or a glass with a tight filling lid, place lemon slice along with sugar, juice from the lemon, ice and enough water to fill the glass. Shake until the sugar is dissolved.
Serve immediately.
