She's 5!

We celebrated a very special 5 year old's birthday on Sunday!
You can read how she was hand picked by God to be in our family here.
She is my oldest daughter, a bundle of spunk. I have no doubt in my mind that God has great plans for her life.

She picked a chocolate flavored castle cake; pink and purple of course.
Her birthday menu was taco pizza and sauteed shrimp.

When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she quickly replied, 'A pink piano!!'
Guess what, they make pink pianos!
She is a hoot to watch open gifts.
Her expressions and elation are priceless.
I am thankful the Lord has given me the honor of being her mom!

Happy Birthday

Ashlynn!
I can't believe it's been two years since you joined our family.
You were a little miracle in our eyes.

You turned our family of 5 into a family of 6.
You have added great joy to our lives.
Your blond ringlets & blue eyes add sparkle where ever you go.
Your sweet personality & 2 year old humor, melts hearts.
You:
Adore your older siblings,
Love riding the four wheeler,
Jump at the chance to chase cows with papa &
Run to greet daddy when you hear the door.

You talk a mile a minute
Devour fruit
Play dress up & dolls
Enjoy the mud

Sleep in a big girl bed with Meemee & Gwen

You Love Life

We love you sweet one.
Happy Birthday!

Banana Cream Birthday Pie

His father talked him in to this.
He did loved it.
even wanted it for breakfast :)
Sunday he will get a Batman cake when he has his friend party.
Best of both worlds, pie & cake!

Homemade Banana Cream Pie

1 pat in pie crust - easiest ever
Oh yes, get yourself one of those cream whippers pictured in that post! We use ours all of the time!

Filling:
1 cup 2% milk*
1 1/2 cups cream*
4 egg yolks
1/4 tsp ground vanilla beans
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp banana extract
6 T flour
3/4 - 1 cup sugar**
pinch of salt
2 - 3 bananas

Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a sauce pan. In a separate bowl, mix milk, cream and yolks. Pour milk mixture into sauce pan. Whisking constantly, cook on med/high heat until the mixture is thick. Remove from heat, add ground vanilla, vanilla extract & banana extract. Pour into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent a film from developing on top. Let cool at room temp for 30 minutes. Stir, then spoon 1/3 of pudding into pie crust. Top with sliced bananas. Cover bananas with another layer of pudding, top with slice bananas, top with remaining pudding. Cover. Refrigerate until cold. Serve with whipped cream.

* You can use 2 1/2 cups whole milk instead of cream.
** If using cream I would reduce sugar to 3/4 cup to prevent the pie from being too rich. I would use 3/4 cups anyway :)

She's not 3

She is 4!
It amazes me that my first born girl has gone from this
to this
to a big sister.

She has brought so much joy into our lives since this day.

She...
loves pink and purple
knows her alphabet
is able to sound out 3 letter words
enjoys coloring
loves sledding
would rather not eat her food mixed {casseroles}
LOVES steak, steamed broccoli, cheese & anything sweet
begs to 'do school'
is a little mommy
often wears a princess dress
keep me on my toes
is very expressive
black or white type of person

I let the birthday child pick out plates and their cake.
She picked Hello Kitty.
She was a hoot to watch open gifts.
Her expressions were priceless.
I love this little girl with all my heart.
She brings so much joy and laughter into our home.
I am incredibly thankful God choose me to be her mother.

Happy Birthday Sunshine!

A party isn't complete with out colorful balloons!
They provided plenty of entertainment while I got things ready for the birthday dinner.
Big sister was right there to help.
And sometimes strings are fun too.

A little Cake for the 1 Year old

We had a belated birthday party for our little one year old. It was ok though, she didn't know :) It is always fun to watch the little one with their cake. It is always a surprise as to how they will react. Ashlynn was hesitant, not wanting to dig in. She took a little bite, then realized it was good and went in for a little more. Of course dad helped and then it began to get fun, somehow she managed to stay clean!

Just a little taste to make sure it's good.

I think I like it, maybe I'll try more!
This looks colorful, maybe I'll try it.
Good Stuff!
Ahhh, but look at my hand!

Happy Birthday

Tyson!
You fill our life with so much joy!
It is hard to believe you are 7.
I love you so much.
The day you were born there was a big snowstorm! I'm glad it's not snowing today :)
You have the most tender heart.
You love to love on your sisters, welllll, most of the time.
You are still very tall for your age.
You love anything made with bread.
You are becoming a great reader. I can see so much improvement compared to the beginning of school. Your favorite books to read are Dick & Jane and Cowboy Sam.
You LOVE reptiles of all kinds.

Playing outside (in the warm and cold) is your favorite activity.

I know you will make an amazing Knight in Shinning Armor for a lady someday. Typing that just made me cry. Your personality is simply the best.

You want to be just like dad, he is your hero.

You are an answer to prayer.
I cannot put into words how much love I have for you.
Happy Birthday son!

Birthday Fun

We had a great party!
Tyson helped decorate is dinosaur cake.
It was all he could do to wait aaaalllllllllll day for dad to come home to open his gifts.
From the amount of excitement he showed, I think they were worth the wait :)
He picked swimming as his B-day activity. No complaining by me! I love the pool :)
Big brother had fun mastering the floating logs.

Miss Gabrielle enjoyed relaxing in the water.
How does she know that pose already!
