Advent 'Calendar' Activities

I found this Advent 'Calendar' at Target a few years ago.
It is one of the highlights of December for my children.
Each door opens to a little box. I hide a piece of paper with an activity and occasionally a mini treat inside. Beginning on December 1st, we start to open the doors. Each day the kids wait with anticipation to see what that days paper says.

This is my calendar of what is happening.
I rearrange activities to fit our schedule, but it gives me a starting point.

Each year I add different activities and take away old ones, or make less 'movie' days (those are my cop-out days).
I have a lot of baking days. I love baking and my children enjoy helping so it works out well.
Early in the month the children each pick an activity to do sometime in December. This can sometimes create more 'stress' for me, but it allows me to see what they really want to do. It also makes me slow down, in this busy season, to enjoy life with my children.

How do you make December special?

We do the exact same thing! I have a box like yours only it is shaped like a tree. We then have a chain that we make December 1st and we all decide on some special things to write on each one such as a question about Christmas or a bible verse and then we tear it off each day and , we sit down at bible time and read them. It is a great converstaion starter!
Hope you are doing well! Have a GREAT week!

Wow I like all these ideas and may well implement them into our Christmas traditions.

I love to bake also and being British and living here in England calls for some real traditional baked good such as mince pies, Christmas cake and pudding!! I shall be doing several posts on my blog this week, (hopefully) if you are interested!!
